Life - Eternal
John 14:1-7 (ESV) 1 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God;[a] believe also in me. 2 In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you?[b] 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. 4 And you know the way to where I am going.”[c] 5 Thomas said to him, “Lord, we do not know where you are going. How can we know the way?” 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. 7 If you had known me, you would have known my Father also.[d] From now on you do know him and have seen him.”
The most comforting and encouraging of all of the things that Jesus says to us throughout Scripture, can be found here in John 14. This is in my most humble of opinions of course. Your mileage may vary.
Look through this. In each of these 7 verses do you not see yourself Christian? Do you not see the troubling of your heart? Do you not see of your own faith? Do you not see of the promise of a place that Christ is preparing for you in Heaven with the Saints? Do you not see the promise of Christ not merely preparing you a place but promising He will return and take you there?!
Verses 4 through 7 bring me to tears almost every single time. Christ tells Thomas, You KNOW the way to where I am going. You KNOW who I am. You KNOW what I have done. You KNOW you are chosen by God.
We are not made for this place. We are not made for a temporary and finite life on Earth. God has made you intimately and fully for glory in eternity with Him in Heaven! You are made to live in the place Christ prepared for you! You are made to cry HOLY, HOLY, HOLY for all eternity with the saints and angels before the Throne of the ONLY one who has been, is, and ever will be worthy of such a thing.You Christian have a hope that goes beyond hope. Let your life be a reflection of this! Let the whole world see what He has done for you and what He promises you! Just as Christ plainly told Thomas the way to such an eternal life, so too should we be telling the world! There is a place where their hearts will no longer be troubled.No more death
No more loss
No more depression
No more anger
No more sin
No more disease
No more deception
No more emptiness
No more being alone
No more end…
For there is no end in Christ, there too is no end in you Christian. Preach the Gospel to yourself every single day and remember where you will spend all of eternity. March forth with faith and hope!
