Our Story
When Rick and Jen Lowry were approached by their church pastor about starting a community meal, Feed Your Soul was born. Since their first meal was served in October 2008, they have continued to organize free, nutritious meals for people in need—every week. Though Jen has passed, Rick and the volunteers of Feed Your Soul continue their mission.
Sharing Spiritual Nourishment
Feed Your Soul goes beyond food, providing both physical and spiritual nourishment to the Fort Atkinson and Janesville, Wisconsin communities. Faith is at the center of Feed Your Soul, guiding its mission and solidifying its values. Each week's meal includes a message of faith.
How it Works
Each week, volunteers come together to cook, clean-up and pack homemade meals.
Community members also can sign up to donate cookies or baked goods to share in Janesville or Fort Atkinson.
Meals are available at no charge to anyone in the community who is in need. Some of the people we serve live at group homes, are low-income, transient, homeless, or homebound, but we serve people and families with any kind of need. You can reserve a free meal in advance by call or text at 608-931-4640 or with the form on our website.
Jen's Legacy
Jen’s greatest hope was that people would experience the love of Jesus and that they would believe in and give their lives to him. Acts 16:30-31: What must I do to be saved? And they said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus and you will be saved.” Feed Your Soul’s outreach ministry would not have been possible without God working in Jen’s heart and her love for the Lord. Through Feed Your Soul, she met and developed relationships with people she would have never met otherwise. These friendships were such a blessing to her. Her weekly faith messages have encouraged and taught so many in our community. Thank you to all who have shared their prayers, support, kind words, and donations in honor of Jen. She will be missed always.
